In the video below, rapper 50 Cent debunks the male dream of having a massive mansion:

I think 50% of my reason for making a life in tiny-housing-Hong Kong is a reaction to growing up in a ridiculously large (but not very expensive because it was Ohio) suburban house. If you’re rich enough like 50 Cent to have your family office maintain and manage it, fine. But otherwise, massive houses just suck up all of your family’s time and/or money. Experiences and activities get put off or never happen because you need to take care of the house.

In Hong Kong, tiny houses still suck up all your money but at least they don’t take all your time. There’s a big exciting world out there and no need to or point in trying to recreate a lame version of it on your middle-of-nowhere plot of suburban grass.

To all LARPing men out there, your home is not a castle, and unless you have an army, you are not the king of anything.
