After listening to [The Knowledge Project's episode on John D. Rockefeller](https://fs.blog/knowledge-project-podcast/outliers-john-d-rockefeller/?ref=larrysalibra.com) over the past few days, I started reading more about him online. I knew Rockefeller's Standard Oil was big, but didn't know that it was so big that it was selling kerosene in China during the Qing dynasty. The trade name it used in China was Mei Foo (美孚).

The Hong Kong MTR also has a Mei Foo Station. The station was named after one of the world's largest privately financed residential estates called Mei Foo Sun Chuen. It was built by a subsidiary of what was once Standard Oil and is now ExxonMobil on land that used to host their oil terminal.

Rockefeller's fingerprints are everywhere.
