Bitcoin at Frank's Records in Hong Kong

The Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong's pre-Bitcoin Asia meetup was a massive success. Over 300 people signed up with additional 100s on the waiting list. The event was on the 7th floor of 79 Wyndham Street at Frank's Records. This is a vinyl record-themed bar with an additional rooftop terrace, in the same building as and owned by Frank's New York Italian restaurant.

Bitcoin was accepted and I saw lots of people happily paying with Lightning. Even more exciting was to see how many people who didn't have any Bitcoin or Lightning on their phones were asking others if they could buy some sats for Hong Kong Dollars. It's been many years since I've seen that sort of excitement around using Bitcoin for in-person payments. And most importantly, every payment went smoothly and the whole process seemed very low friction for the bar staff.

Looking forward to seeing how attendance is tomorrow at the main Bitcoin Asia conference.
