McDonald's apple pies are as American as, well, apple pie. But in 1992, McDonald's ruined their classic apple pie formula by changing the pies from being deep-fried to baked in the USA. All in the name of "health." As if anyone eating at McDonald's was seeking that!

The apple pie isn't the only classic McDonald's dessert sacrificed by strange American market conditions (such as trying to pretend McDonald's is healthy). The tasty peanut-covered chocolate and strawberry sundaes also fell victim to the American market. At some point, it seems like everyone was very worried about peanut allergies so McDonald's removed peanuts from the sundaes and instead included a plastic packet of peanuts on the side. Apparently, they at some point made the packet of peanuts optional and so few people asked for them, that they recently totally removed the option of requesting peanuts all together.

Happily, the original deep-fried McDonald's apple pie lives on in Hong Kong alongside the classic chocolate and strawberry sundaes both sprinkled with peanuts by default, as Ray Kroc intended it.
