🐬 Dolphins in Hong Kong - Autumn 2021
A video compilation of dolphin sightings around western Lantau, Hong Kong from a sailing trip in autumn 2021.
Few realize that Hong Kong, global financial center, famous for its tall buildings and many banks is also home to Chinese white dolphins which confusingly frequently look pink. This video is a collection of dolphin sightings I made during a sailing trip to Tai O this fall. When under motor, the dolphins stayed a good 30 meters away from the boat presumably due to the propeller noise. When under sail, the dolphins came alongside as near as a few meters away from the port side of the vessel.
The first set of clips is from November 29, 2021, under engine, near Tai O. The second set of clips starts around the 3 minute mark, is from December 1, 2021, under sail, and was taken south of Fan Lau Tung Wan. All video clips were taken with my iPhone 13 Pro Max and the compilation was edited in Final Cut Pro.
While this is generally a private community, I'll sometimes publicly share videos of dolphins or other cool things I encounter sailing I think might interest a wider audience. If you'd like to be notified when there are more dolphin videos, join the community, it's free.
