Encourage users to look under the hood
Yesterday, at the DHH-meetup in Shenzhen, the MC asked DHH what people like himself "who are not developers" should learn about their vibe coded Omarchy extensions when they don't work.
DHH responded that they shouldn't need to know how it works.
I understand where DHH is coming from. When create products for other people, we should aim to make it so that that the user doesn't need to know anything about how it works. However, users can always benefit from learning about how whatever they're using works.
We don't want to create a Spacely-Sprockets-world (Jetson's reference) where technology is a magic button we press that is indistinguishable from magic, but a world where technology is just as easy to understand as it is easy to use. We should encourage people who use generative AI to create software to look under the hood, kick the tires and learn about how it works. Thanks to AI, this is easier than ever. If you see something you don't understand, you have an excellent teacher one prompt away.
