TL;DR: I'm building a new product today I built a new product, wpFlight.com, in 24 hours from start to launch, and doing did it all while on the road!

WPFlight was a fun project and example of how a v0 MVP can be put together in only a day. We’ve decided to sunset the product, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the journey and the lessons I learned!

I've put together a series of posts detailing the journey and my experience that I'll be sharing over the next few days.

We launched Pay4Bugs a number of years ago to bring the power of crowdsourced testing to teams far and wide. In short, the product works for businesses that live and breathe software engineering.

However, our industry has failed the hundreds of thousands of businesses that depend on custom software but don’t have software engineering in their DNA. A business is someone’s hopes and dreams. It pains me immensely when I see a business with a great value proposition, that cares about its customers spend good money on a custom site or app only to have it break and not even know about it. It’s a lose-lose situation for all involved and it needs to stop!

I have an idea I think will fix this problem and I invite you to join me as I build and launch it in the next 24 hours.

Rules of the game

People are always making excuses about why they don't build their product: it's not the right time, I'm too busy. I've occasionally made the same excuses myself and want to inspire others to get out there and do it.

  • 24 hours: I'll start building the product this Sunday afternoon at 4pm Hong Kong Time (midnight Pacific) and will launch it 24 hours later, 4pm in the afternoon in Hong Kong on monday, an hour after midnight on Sunday night in California. I'm a nightowl. Stay up with me!
  • Open & Transparent: I’ll be sharing everything about the process: the tools I use, the though process I use, and the problems I encounter.
  • On the Road: I’m going to do it on the road. I’ll buy a roundtrip ticket from Hong Kong to somewhere and build the product on the road from airports & on planes as I fly there and back. No more excuses from those of you who are always too busy because you're traveling. You can get stuff done on the road. I'll prove it.
  • Just me: My team is off today...it's just me: teams are amazing, but coordination, communication and working together takes time...it's possible to launch something yourself and launch it now. I'll show you how.

I'll be live tweeting on Twitter with hashtag #StartupThisSunday, so be sure to follow along! I'll share how I did things, ongoing revenue numbers and what I learned in series of posts after the product launches. You can subscribe to my blog by email so you don't miss a post!

This is going to be a great learning experience and a lot of fun! I hope you'll join me! Let's get going!
