We can't choose the era we live in
A Chinese friend was telling me today that many of his friends felt that the economy today was very unfair. Today isn't like the 1990s in China where everyone was equally poor and "just" working really hard was a receipe for success they say. It sounds a lot like those who grew up in the US from my generation that complain that life isn't fair for us Millennials because American Boomers were born in the right place at the right time. This may or may not be true, but it's also totally irrelevant.
We can't choose which era we live in and there's nothing we can do to chance it. And we won't know how lucky or unlucky we were to be born when we were born until our lives are almost over. What seems to be unfair or unlucky today might be out to have actually been the opportunity of lifetime tomorrow. The future is what we make it, so let's make it a good one!
